2025 International OME-NGFF workshop

Are you struggling with sharing, accessing, or analyzing your microscopy image data? Are you spending too much time wrestling with file formats?

OME-NGFF is a new, open data format for microscopy images driven by the international scientific community to standardize data sharing and handling that promises unprecedented scalability, interoperability, and reproducibility and is poised to transform how scientists handle microscopy images. For the first time, we are bringing together the world's leading experts in OME-NGFF in Switzerland, offering Swiss scientists direct access to the knowledge and tools that are reshaping bioimaging.

The 5-day 2025 International OME-NGFF Workshop consists of a 2-day open-to-all symposium followed by a 3-day hackathon for developers. The symposium takes place November 10th - 11th 2025, the hackathon November 12th - 14th 2025.

The symposium (150 participants) is designed for anyone working with microscopy data, regardless of prior OME-NGFF experience (see talk programme). There, you will discover how open microscopy data formats can transform your research through real-world examples from international leaders showcasing breakthrough science enabled by OME-NGFF. The symposium will also include hands-on demo sessions to help you get started practically, and networking opportunities will allow you to connect with pioneers and peers who are driving this field forward. Register here.

The hackathon (40 participants) will bring together developers shaping the future of microscopy image data standards. This is your opportunity to collaborate directly with the international OME-NGFF community, contribute to the advancement of the OME-Zarr specification, and build open tools that will benefit researchers worldwide. Learn more about the hackathon here.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to be part of the open microscopy data revolution! Whether you are curious to know what happens at the cutting edge of open bioimaging or want to help build the future of the field, register now to secure your place.

The 2025 International OME-NGFF Workshop is an action of the BioFAIR project, made possible by the support of swissuniversities’ Programme Open Science II.
